Join Flare – Fire Safety Technician Role
Hours: Mon-Fri (Full-time)
Salary: £30,000 - £36,000 per year
We are hiring a Fire Safety Technician (Hybrid) to join Flare’s Operations team.
This is a hands-on, technical, and fast-paced role supporting the delivery of critical safety services across the energy sector. You will work both independently and as part of a team, carrying out servicing, maintenance, inspections, and technical support across a wide range of specialist safety systems.

What to Expect in This Role
This is not a purely workshop-based or routine technician role.
You will be:
- Working in operational and potentially hazardous environments
- Managing field-based responsibilities and technical tasks
- Supporting and sometimes leading less experienced technicians
- Handling client-facing situations and technical problem solving
- Working under pressure with high standards of safety and accuracy

Key Responsibilities
- Service, maintain, and inspect a wide range of fire safety and life-saving equipment
- Support and guide Fire Safety Assistant Technicians in the field
- Complete and review service reports, permits, and technical documentation
- Diagnose faults, resolve issues, and escalate where required
- Deliver equipment and materials to client sites in line with procedures
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental standards
- Provide technical support to internal teams and office staff
- Participate in training, assessments, and competency development programmes
- Support continuous improvement of working practices and service delivery
Equipment & Systems Exposure
You may work with:
- Fire extinguishers, hose reels, hydrants
- Breathing apparatus & air quality systems
- Gas detection equipment
- Cylinders (inspection, testing, refurbishment, refilling)
- Gaseous & foam suppression systems
- Sprinkler, deluge, and water mist systems
- Pressure systems and safety valves
Requirements
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a similar technical / fire safety / engineering role
- OR completion of Flare Route to Competency (Assistant Technician level)
- Strong understanding of technical systems and equipment
- Ability to diagnose faults and solve problems independently
- Confident communicator with ability to engage at all levels
- Comfortable working in fast-paced and high-pressure environments
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365
- Full UK driving licence (preferred)
- Forklift certification (desirable, not essential)

Additional Requirements
