The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) issued an offshore information sheet which provides guidance on water deluge systems,
testing requirements, data recording in relation to performance standards and new knowledge of fire attack scenarios.
The HSE noted that whilst deluge testing offshore is
generally being carried out as required, some flow measurements are not being recorded effectively and data records are not being analysed to provide the best information for use in optimising
maintenance and performance.
Flare Fire Safety Engineering Ltd have extensive
experience in supporting our Clients to ensure that their water deluge systems are maintained and tested in accordance with HSE recommendations and performance standard
requirements.
Prior to testing of a water deluge system, we perform a
system design review to ensure that the system in question is capable of supplying the required water application rates. During this review, if required, we will generate: System Piping Layout
Drawings, Hydraulic Calculation Reports, Operational Test Procedures and Opertational Test Result Sheets.
Upon completion of the system testing, the completed
documentation is supplied to our Client as supporting evidence that their water deluge systems have been tested in compliance with HSE recommendations and performance standards.
